2026 ALPENFEST 61st GRAND PARADE Rules and Information

Saturday, July 18, 2026
Formation – 9:30 am – 11:00 am No vehicle entry after 11:15 per Police Order
Starting Promptly at 12:00 p.m.

The Grand Parade is a family-oriented event that celebrates Alpenfest. Entries are encouraged to “Alpenize” or decorate in accordance with the theme: Where Alpine Tradition Meets Northern Michigan.


The Grand Parade is not an opportunity to advertise, campaign, or deliver an address. Entries featuring candidates currently running for office or controversial issues will not be permitted. Currently seated political officials may participate by invitation only. The parade committee reserves the right to dismiss any entry at any time for non-compliance.


• PASSING OUT ITEMS (Candy, Water, T-Shirts, Ice Cream, etc.) is ENCOURAGED!! Nothing can be thrown from the float, but may be handed out from walkers along the sides. Our primary safety concerns must be not hitting anyone with items and keeping children from entering the street.
• Participants may not mingle with the crowd, shake hands, or give out flyers, etc.
• All entries must be decorated
• Only decorated commercial equipment and vehicles are permitted
• There will be no stops along the parade route
• Each entry must stay as close to the previous entry as possible to avoid gaps
• Equine and other animal units must provide their own cleanup equipment

• Maximum height may not exceed 13’, 6” in order to clear overhead wires
• Adequate safety chains must be used on all towed units
• Adequate vision must be provided for drivers
• No dangerous acts, fireworks, weapons, or sudden noises
• No alcoholic beverages are to be consumed by participants
• Alpenfest® will not provide vehicles or equipment for use in the parade
• Only participants will be allowed in the staging area
